When children or, let's face it, some adults, learn how Display Properties can modify their systems' appearance, they sometimes make inappropriate changes to shared computers. You can suppress certain configuration changes by adding values to the Registry. To do this, click on the Start button and select run. Type in 'regedit' and press OK. Look for this key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies
Right-click on the 'Policies' key and select 'New->Key' and name it 'Settings'. In the right pane, right-click on an empty space and select 'New->DWord' and name it one of the options below. Next, right-click on the newly created key and select modify. Change the Value Data field to 1. You can create as many keys for the options below as you want.

Now when you click on the Display icon in the Control Panel, the tabs you decided to hide will no be visible.
